Wedding Videography At Ash Barton Estate, Devon

Im not going to write about how nice my couples are or how wonderful their wedding was. I’m lucky to get awesome couples who have equally as awesome weddings so writing this every time would just get boring.

This year I am going to focus on specific elements from each wedding. What a way to start with Gen & Dan’s wedding at Ash Barton Estate in Devon.

What I want to focus on from this video:

  1. ZERO EXPECTATIONS

Gen & Dan said to me the usual thing that people say to a photographer or videographer “We aren’t great in front of a camera together and don’t know how to pose for photos really”. I’m just going to put it out there and call ‘bullshit’! Granted that they didn’t know how to ‘pose’, but that’s not what what I want. They were incredible to film and really fun to hang out with, mainly because of their overwhelming love for each other and the urge to be themselves and have fun. You can clearly see the love in the room during the first dance between G&D. It’s the cliche phrase of ‘dance like no one is watching’. These two could have been on their own or in a room surrounded by thousands of people and either wouldn’t have made a difference. It was just about being in that moment with each other.

Same as the couples shots we got together. All I ever want from my couples are for them to have a laugh together, be themselves and do whatever they feel comfortable with. Any of the running into each others arms BS is just cringe for all involved.

  2. LIGHTING

Lighting is something usually overlooked. Most couples spend between £10 - £30k on their wedding and then forget about lighting. A few small additions can make a big difference to your imagery. Granted, G&D had a bit more than a few small additions but you get my point. They hired an entire DJ set up + lighting for the chapel at Ash Barton and boy did it look good. I have been to nightclubs with lighting set ups which weren’t this good.

If you’re hiring a band, just ask them if they have disco lights or if they can be added on? Or even hire a cool neon sign. Just food for thought anyway :)
